There are few certainties when it comes to investment but it is reasonable to suggest we may be rather closer to the end of what is now the longest bull market in history than the start. Whether the price falls of recent weeks turn out to be a pause before markets seek to push on once more or the opening salvo of something more sinister, now would seem an appropriate time for advisers to reassess how they are investing for their clients.

For those adopting a multi-asset approach, for example, a more traditional portfolio of equities and bonds – which has rewarded investors so well over the decade since the world’s central banks first implemented emergency quantitative easing measures in response to the financial crisis – may not prosper as much now the Bank of England and the US Federal Reserve have embarked on the process of ‘quantitative tightening’.

How then should multi-asset investors approach this new phase in the market cycle? That is the key question this live Professional Adviser webinar – in association with Columbia Threadneedle Investments – will look to answer. It will also consider the arguments for taking a multi-asset route to investing in the first place – particularly with a view to meeting the ongoing demand for income-generating investments.

The three-strong panel of investment experts will also address how multi-asset can help manage volatility and other risks, what constitutes real diversification in today’s markets and what they see as the key investment challenges and opportunities globally over the coming year. Viewers are encouraged to pose their own questions to the panel as the webinar progresses.
